INDEPENDENCE DAY:
The Independence Day was celebrated in the premises of our
Institution on 15th August, 2003. The flag hoisting was done
by Mr. G.S.REDDY,President Lions club of Hyderabad Industrialsts,
the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prizes and Sweets have been
to the participants of the sports events conducted on the occasion.
SPORTS
COMPETITION:
A sports competition was held on 23-09-2003 and 26-11-2003,
at Model School Gronds, Seunderabad, A.P. The students of our
Institution, “Sadhana” have participated in the
said Sports meet and were given certificates of Merit.
CHILDREN
FILM FESTIVAL:
The 13th International Children’s Film Festival was held
between 14th to 20th of November 2003.
The students of our Sadhana were taken to film festival and
they have enjoyed the films.
STALL
AT INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION:
A vocational Material Exhibited in the exhibition which are
made by our students products like greeting cards, craft items,
sceneries, phenyl etc. A stall was allotted to our Sadhana Institute
by the Exhibition authorities. Some of the Vocational Materials
made by our students of Sadhana were put on show at the Exhibition.
There was a good response from the visitors.
Our students took part in the entertainment programmes held
on the day in connection with Silver Jubilee year and International
Day for the Disabled.
WORLD
DAY FOR DISABLED:
In connection with World Day for Disabled, the students of
our Institution have performed “Group Dance” at
Ravindra Bharathi Hyderabad.
The said function was organized by the Department of Disabled
Welfare, Govt. of A.P., and National Institute for Mentally
Handicapped (NIMH) at Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad on 03-12-2003.
Smt. Manikumari, Hon’ble Minister for Tribal Welfare
and Disabled, Govt. of A.P. and Mrs. Minni Mathew, Principal
Secretary, Govt. of A.P. for Women Development, Child Welfare
and Disabled Welfare have attended the function.
A large number of N.G.O’s and Disabled persons have participated
in the said programmes.
SPECIAL
OLYMPICS:
The students of our “Sadhana have participated in A.P.
Special Olympics” held at R.R.C grounds and NIMH from
19th to 21st December, 2003. Our students have bagged a number
of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.
AWARENESS
RALLY ON PULSE POLIO:
Our Sadhana has conducted an Awareness Rally on Pulse Polio
on the even of II term Pulse Polio on 5th January, 2003. The
rally was flagged off by Shri. Ajay Jain, District Collector
of R.R. District. The rally went through Habsiguda, Uppal, Ramanthapur
and Nacharam. We have displayed banners of immunization schedule,
and about Pulse Polio. The related pamphlets have been distributed
to the general public, who were impressed by the rally.
Sri Ajay Jain, District Collector of Ranga Reddy District,
has flagged off the Awareness Rally of Pulse Polio conducted
by Sadhana.
EXCURSION
TRIP:
An educational and recreational excursion trip was organized
for the children of Sadhana on 9th October, 2003. The students
and the Staff were taken to Shilparamam and Ramoji Film City.
On 5th December, 2003 students were taken to Yadagiri Gutta
a pilgrim place.
TRAINING
AND REHABILITATION ACTIVITIES:
During the year under review, Sadhana a residential institute
for mentally handicapped has organized a total of two (2) training
programmes for the benefit of the parents of Children with M.R.
below 12 years of age and another for below 15 years for parents
and both the programmes have been completed with success.
The Training and Rehabilitation activities at Sadhana came
into bring during 1996. This has become possible due to the
continuous interest shown by our management to recruit the professional
staff to meet the challenges in the field of development of
mentally handicapped children and to elevate the status of our
organization.
TRAINING
PROGRAMME FOR THE PARENTS OF THE DISABLED CHILDREN WITH BEHAVIOURAL
PROBLEMS:
This is an orientation programme relating to the children
with behavioural problems. The psychiatrist, Dr. Jaganath of
our organsation has conducted this programme and discussed about
bed-wetting, self biting, thumb sucking, self injurious and
other related problems which usually confront with the disabled
children. The duration of the said programme is for one day.
TRAINING
PROGRAMMES FOR THE PARENTS OF DISABLED CHILDREN REGARDING THE
ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING
The parents of students below the age of 15 years have attended
the training programme as per our instructions. Smt. M. Surekha,
Principal of our Institution has conducted this programme. She
advised the parents about the activities of the disabled children
regarding their daily living skills like eating, drinking, toileting,
dressing and grooming etc. She advised the parents to help their
children in these aspects so that they can become independent
in their daily routine.
SURVEY
AND IDENTIFICATION ACTIVITIES:
This has been the 5th year of Survey and Identification activities
for the welfare of the mentally handicapped and other disabled
persons in the rural and tribal areas of different parts of
our Stage (A.P.)
During the year 2003-2004, under review our organization has
undertaken three (3) Survey and identification programmes in
rural and tribal areas of Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts
of Andhra Pradesh.
All the Research, Training and Development activities provided
direct services to the mentally handicapped and disabled children.
During the year 2001-2002 under review, we have initiated
three (3) Survey and Identification programmes for the benefit
of mentally handicapped and other disabled persons at different
areas of Ranga Reddy District, and Nalgonda District of Andhra
Pradesh as mentioned below.
1. Ghatkesar of Ranga Reddy District;
2. Bibnagar of Nalgonda District;
3. Valigonda of Nalgonda District.
LIBRARY
AND DOCUMENTATION SERVICES:
Library is essential and an indispensable unit of any organization
and documentation services is also considered an important part,
as it serves the growing academic needs of the students, parents,
siblings, professionals and the staff of our organization.
Our organization, being a teaching and training institute is
in the need of a sizable collection of books, journals and other
literature relating to the disabled persons.
As already noted, our institution was established in 1996,
and since then a number of visitors used to visit our organization
for consultancy services, and to get suitable advice for various
aspects of mental retardation. We have added some more books
for the use of such enthusiastic visitors.
We have been making efforts to collect the needed literature
by way of gifts or as donations from the interested people of
our region.
